Busy few weeks for Solihull Triathlon Club…

The last couple of weekends have been quite busy for the club with members competing in events all around the continent.

Last week, Peter, Ian and Alice represented Great Britain in their Age Groups at the European Championships in Coimbra, Portugal. Peter and Ian tackled the Sprint Duathlon on Saturday (15th) and Alice the Standard Distance Duathlon on Sunday (16th). All did brilliantly, with Alice picking up a 10km PB!

At the same time as Alice’s race, Adam and El were over in Klagenfurt, Austria for their highly-anticipated full distance Ironman! As expected, they both knocked it out the park with some excellent efforts in all three disciplines. Adam managed to beat his three race aims, a sub-1.5hr swim, sub-7hr bike and sub-4hr marathon – as Hannibal (not that one) once said, “I love it when a plan comes together”. After El’s slight injury mishap earlier in the year, she had a task ahead to get marathon fit once again – turns out that paid off with an excellent result in Austria too. Well done to both in their first Ironman, hopefully not the last.

Honorable mention to Keith and Linda on a beautifully scenic French Cycle Tour, and good luck to Glen who’s racing Ironman 70.3 Bolton this coming weekend and Connor doing the Olympic distance triathlon at the Ultimate Weekend!
