Swim training

Coached pool swim training sessions take place at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre:

Places are limited and are paid for monthly, though a commitment is required for a quarter (Apr-Jun, Jul-Sept, Oct-Dec, Jan-Mar). Swim sessions cost £30 per month. New swimmers are charged pro rata until the start of the next month. Please contact secretary@solihulltri.club if you’re interested.

There are no formal Open Water swimming sessions but the most popular venues for members are Cliff Lakes and Dosthill Quarry near Kingsbury and Compton Verney. Other locations are also used. For the 2024 summer season there is one group session at Dosthill per month where a swim coach is usually present to offer advice, though this is not formal and subject to change. Look out on the members Facebook group for more info when these come around.

Bike training

There are limited formal, coached club sessions through the summer that include skills such as: group riding, transitions, pacing and bike handling.

There are also a number of informal get-togethers organised via social media (primarily the members’ Facebook group and WhatsApp). These include:

  • Thursday Evening Zwift Team Time Trials for the winter season
  • Thursday evening track rides at Tudor Grange Cycle Track (8-9pm all summer season – continuing through winter for those that want to
  • Monthly social rides on the first Saturday of the month, usually at 8:30 am from the Drum & Monkey (this normally includes a coffee and cake stop)

Other social rides including turbo get-togethers are also organised via social media. Between these groups there are good options from those just starting out to seasoned cyclists.

We have members taking part in many bike-only events including: sportives, time trials (TTs), reliability rides and endurance rides.

During the autumn and winter months, we usually switch from using the cycle track at Tudor Grange to organised indoor sessions, primarily held on Zwift. For the 2024/25 winter season we will still be holding cycling sessions on the cycle track. Team Time Trails held on Zwift still occur every Thursday too. Be sure to check out the members’ Facebook page and WhatsApp group for up to date information each week. During the warmer months members often take part in local Time Trials organised through Cycling Time Trials and various cycling clubs. Once events are confirmed for the summer (2025), check back at this page for a timetable.

Run training

There is an informal road run every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm starting at the entrance to Tudor Grange Leisure Centre (during the summer we meet in the centre of Tudor Grange park). This consists of a warm-up followed by intervals, hill reps, or sometimes just a road run. We always finish with a warm-down and some stretching.

Coached run training sessions take place in Tudor Grange Park on Saturday mornings (except for the first Saturday of the month) from 9:25 am to 10:30 am. These coincide with junior training sessions so that parents can join in whilst their children participate in their own session. See the members’ closed Facebook group for further details.

Many members organise ad-hoc runs so keep an eye out for these. See the members’ Facebook group for more details.

Nutrition, strength & conditioning, and other essentials

We are always keen to help you learn transition skills or help members learn what nutrition works for them.

We have run regular Strength and Conditioning in the past, though the current program does not include this. Please see the Training Resources page for some great videos from Andy Teagle. We strongly encourage you to supplement your training with Strength & Conditioning and hope to run regular sessions again in the future.

Please get in touch with a club coach if you’d like some help.

Andy Teagle is available for private coaching and can be found at Team T Coaching.
