Swim Training
Coached pool swim training sessions take place at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre:
- on Wednesdays from 9 pm to 10 pm and
- on Fridays from 6 pm to 7 pm
Places are limited and are booked in 13-week blocks at £6 per session (adult). New swimmers are charged pro rata until the start of the next 13-week block. Please contact secretary@solihulltri.club if you’re interested. See the members’ Facebook page for further details.
There are no formal Open Water swimming sessions but the most popular venues for members are Cliff Lakes and Dosthill Quarry near Kingsbury and Compton Verney. Other locations are also used.
Bike Training
Ther are no formal, coached club sessions at present. However, a number of informal get-togethers are organised via social media (primarily the members’ Facebook group and Whatsapp). These include:
- Thursday Evening Zwift Rides in the Winter
- Thursday evening track rides at Tudor Grange Cycle Track, starting after Easter 2022
- Monthly social rides on the first Saturday of the month, usually at 8:30 am from the Drum & Monkey. This normally includes a coffee and cake stop.
- Monthly interval sessions on the middle Sunday of the month, also starting at 8:30 am from the Drum and Monkey. See the Training Calendar for the exact dates.
Other social rides including turbo get-togethers are also organised via social media. Between these groups there are good options from those just starting out to seasoned Age Groupers or Ironman athletes.
During the warmer months members often take part in local Time Trials organised by CTT.
Run Training
There is an informal road run every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm starting at the entrance to Tudor Grange Leisure Centre. This consists of a warm-up followed by intervals or hill reps and a warm-down.
Coached run training sessions take place in Tudor Grange Park on Saturday mornings (except for the first Saturday of the month) from 9:25 am to 10:30 am. These coincide with junior training sessions so that parents can join in whilst their children participate in their own session. See the members’ closed Facebook group for further details.
These Saturday morning sessions are on a summer break, resuming on 10th September. During this break, why not go to parkrun?
Many members organise ad-hoc runs so keep an eye out for these.
See the members’ Facebook group for more details.
Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning and other essentials
We are always keen to help you learn transition skills or help members learn what nutrition works for them.
We have run regular Strength and Conditioning in the past, though the current program does not include this. Please see the Training Resources page for some great videos from Andy Teagle. We strongly encourage you to supplement your training with S & C and hope to run regular sessions again in the future.
Please get in touch with a club coach if you’d like some help.
Andy Teagle is available for private coaching and can be found at Team T Coaching.
